In today’s era when we are so attached to technology that at times we just ignore the stories behind those hashtags and statuses to ponder. In order to bring into light some of the societal issues such as eve teasing, sexual harassment at work place and domestic violence faced by several women in their daily lives and bring awareness among the masses to curb these issues, We Foundation for Social Transformation (FST), a philanthropic, gender just organisation of Guwahati has recently come up with street play series titled Shakti- An Awareness Building Initiative. The street play series were performed by the Masters of Social Work department students of North Eastern Regional Institute of Management. The plays were conducted in the major crowd driven areas of Guwahati such as Shraddhanjali Kanan, Street adjacent to the Cotton College and Gauhati Commerce College. The play was scripted originally by Ms.Priya Kumar an intern of the organisation FST hailing from Bharti College under Delhi University with a few modifications by the students of Nerim Group.
The series of street play acts received a good response from the crowd, student communities and masses and was also highlighted by the media forum. The aim of this play was to create a new wave to curb these burning issues on women.
